Poster from 1974- "Sold Out"
First printing has sold out before the book is released. A second printing is on order. Guy Trebay talks to everybody and the kitchen sink. See his review here. By the way, I take great pleasure in announcing to the Trad world that Mr Trebay has never heard of Bill's Khakis or Mercer Shirts. I'll try to keep it that way.

Splendid piece. You're getting famous, T-Unit. I eagerly await my copies of TI. I think I would rather live in a society ruled by university-educated men selected for their patrician beauty, than in a so-called meritocracy ruled by hostile high-IQ rootless cosmopolitan nerds.
LBT- "...hostile high-IQ rootless cosmopolitan nerds." I think you just described me.
Yeah, that was a terrible write up with quite a few errors.
That Bastian "assistant" is Antonio by the way, haha.
How can the first printing already be sold out when it isn't even in stores yet?
In that case I meant it as a compliment, as usual
LAS- "Terrible write up."
I don't mean to be critical but you and I couldn't hold a candle to Trebay's writing. He's damned good. A little deference.
Anon- People ordered the book before it was delivered. It's called pre-sale and it's pretty impressive.
LBT- And I take it as one. Cheers.
If you say his reputation precedes him then I believe it. But does this guy usually write about menswear? For the NY Times there are quite a few blatant factual errors.
Bills Khakis sucks. Such a stodgy fit, and not in a good way.
Insightful, indeed! Trebay does have a lot to say, and reference. Never knew Take Ivy was so sought after in the industry.
Remember though, Bill's Khakis pulls freely not from prep, but from WWII pride. Only we might make that logical association. I'd go so far as to conjecture that most of their customers have ventured nowhere near an ivy league college. Can't speak for Mercer Shirts, however.

Mr. Tintin,
I was just reading your ode to Shaggy Dogs. They're on sale for $92 through the weekend.
I was about to order one but the lady in customer service said a Medium is 28" long. That can't be possible, can it?
Tin Tin -- I always enjoy your posts. My TI is on order - Amazon predicts it will arrive by 9/8.
Tip of the hat to you Sir... for mention of this Blog in today's NYT. You are on some high end radar screens my friend.
Just pre-ordered for October delivery on this side of the pond. October!
