The word nerd does not necessarily denote academic intelligence. Those are really the saddest kind of nerds, the dumb ones. I mean homie got pi wrong. But you can't really hate on some cordovan leather.
What I've always liked about nerds is that, for the most part, they loved what they loved without any outside pushing or influence. I was a photo nerd in 8th and 9th grade and that was not a popular thing to be. Nerds, and I probably still am one - at least I hope - are passionate.
Nerds love to talk and write about what they like. And they ignore the cool and hip because those folks are on a short train ride. You can't be passionate about something that has fashion's life expectancy.
I think there are people out there who have hopped on this train and the minute Nik Nik shirts are back, they'll hop off this train. But I've been dressing like this for a very long time and taking pictures too. So I guess I am a nerd. Excuse me while I pick my nose.
Now Tintin, why on earth wuld you allow the link to a tedious song appear on your otherwise sparkling website? The Foster whatevers are just pretentious.
A dorm room favorite and the obvious influence for the Are You A Preppy Poster. Also, you have to remember that those National Lampoon guys of that era graduated from high school in the 60's. 1975 nerds looked a bit different.

Where is the close-up of this dudes wallet in ten years?
I say these sorts have indeed had thier revenge.
"Preferably a color not found in nature." Hilarious!
Interesting how the spelling of the word has evolved, or at least become more acceptable, using an "e" instead of a "u."

Pi is wrong, from the fourth decimal place.
Just sayin'.

The geek did indeed inherit the earth

"fifty bucks more says he eats it."
Insert "This is the Brooklyn, 2012 Spring Line" joke here.
I used to share a double cubicle with an electrical engineer who looked and dressed just like this guy and he had this poster in his cubicle.
I'm a former nerd. I'm a trad hipster at the moment.

The length of those pants look very fashionable...but perhaps not the crotch.

Actually the poster was a bit different. I seem to rember a slide rule tie clip and a Ban lon shirt with notches on the sleeves.
We love your blog! Great post.
