I am very sorry for your loss. It is hardly any consolation, but you certainly are aware that, for these past 3 or 4 years of writing about him, you have made him come alive to all of us, and he will forever be remembered. You have ensured that we, your readers and friends, would know Col. Tinseth as a patriot, a soldier, a father and husband, an artist, and a loyal friend. Thank you for sharing him with us.
Moreover, we have all had the pleasure of reading comments from "Tintin's Dad" on many occasion, and I'm sure you'd agree that often your father's words were just as -- if not more -- entertaining/insightful/articulate/ meaningful as your own. We thank him for piping up.
I for one will remember him as the guy who covered for you when you thought you were gonna get excluded from the USA for transporting Playboys, and for trusting in you when a friend ratted you out as a co-shoplifter. And for being the guy in the firebase O-club with the shit-eating grin on his face, beer in hand, amongst friends.

Tin- So sorry to hear, there's a swampy jungle of crap between a lot of fathers and sons- you two seemed to get clear of that and have a real love and friendship-and respect, that's a blessing amigo..
Tintin - though we've never met, I get the sense through your writing that the relationship you had with your father was close, substantive, and full of memories. It's through these perfect memories that his legacy will sustain, and I extend my most sincere condolences as you grieve his loss.

John, I haven't checked the site in a while, so when I looked today, I was so sorry to realize that your father had passed. I lost my own father a short time ago, and I continue to be comforted by something someone told me that I'll now share with you. "One of the greatest legacies that a man can leave behind, is a son who thinks highly of him". I wish you much peace and strength in your coming journey.
