A National Bohliday
In the gigantic, everything's available, shopping mall that is America -- it's refreshing to find something limited to a specific region. How odd that it's usually beer? I haven't had a Natty Boh since college but was surprised how good (and cheap) it still is. It's enough to drive a man to Baltimore.
And if today's crowds and traffic get you down -- consider this. In Cuba they celebrate their labor day (May 1st) by working. ¡Coño!

$2.99 a six pack in 1982...back when you could get 10 wings for a $1.00 and Wednesday was Quarter Beer Night... ME
"¡Coño!" That's great.
I've been on tap with Natty Boh since my Baltimore born and raised in-laws introduced me years ago. But my father-in-law takes it farther than you or I ever would: He drinks it straight from the can...warm.

I don't think prices have changed too much since 1982. I remember getting 12 packs in college for only $5.99, and that was only 6 years ago!
I always make sure to stock up on Boh when I go back home.
DB...Warm? now that's hard core.
I'm pretty sure my first (underage) beer was a National Bo.
Can't recall ten lines from Shakespeare, but..."National beer, National beer, you'll like the taste of National beer, and while we're at it we're proud to say it's brewed on the sho-o-o-ores..of the Chesapeake Bay"
Wow... Fond memories of the late Great Tune Inn on Capitol Hill. Pitchers of Natty Bohs 'till whenever, greasy burgers and sass from the waitress.
Get some Tristram Shandy back into this blog. Please.

My college roommate was from Baltimore and used to bring a stockpile back to school after vacations...
Reminds me of other classic regionals like Dakota Kick and Beer 30.
NC Jack, slight correction: "and while we're singin', we're proud to say . . . " Also a shout out to the late great Tune Inn, and also the Quarter Deck in Arlington, VA, the perfect place for a crab & a Natty Boh. Thanks for the memories everyone!
tintin,
Glad you enjoyed the beer. Natty Boh beer, and the Mr. Boh logo, are still icons in Maryland (aka, The Land of Pleasant Living). Like everything else being outsourced, they had to remove the tag line "brewed on the shores of the Chesapeak Bay" when Heilman or someone else started brewing it. It is a surprisingly drinkable cheap beer. Now we need to get you some Pikesville Rye and a few blue crabs.

In Cuba we celebrate May 1 by being forced to attend a military parade. Not that I ever went.
