I *still* love this band. Was listening to "The Crossing," the album from which this comes, just last week. It's aged well.

But it's actually "Come *up* screaming."

Better yet is a band who can make a guitar sound like bagpipe.

Wallace- no kidding. I always thought it was Shat instead of Shout. I never could understand a Scotsman

Bro- where have you been?

M.Lane said...

How about a band that makes a bagpipe sound like a guitar?

M.Lane, there is a band called Flatfoot 56 who does just that, google their song Warriors.

Tintin... I been grad-u-atin'. I now have a very prestigious and expensive degree and am currently tasked with finding a way to pay for it. Seems like I've been here before.
Have no fear, Rome is burning and I have a fiddle.

Now for ugly 80's bands who are awesome; no one beets Joey Ramone.

Bro- You're allowed to listen to music.

Wallace- what album was Fields of Fire on?

Tin-

I believe Fields of Fire was only released as a single in '83, though I could be mistaken--often the case.

Quite the tragic end to lead singer Stuart Adamson 2001. Between you and me, I wanted to look like Stuart--at least the hair--ugly or not.

Quite happy not to at this point.

Thanks for the song

So what's the book about?

tintin said...

Patrick- thanks. I had no idea about Adamson. A very sad end. There's a love version of Fields in Scotland that's amazing. I'll post it here later tonight. Adamson looked okay to me. Stroby has high standards or did back then.

How about the clothes the dancers are wearing? Yikes, can't get much uglier!

"Fields of Fire" was on the same album, the U.S. version of "The Crossing." I think the U.K. version had a slightly different track list.

Big Country passed the 25 year sniff test from the get go.

I believe FoF was on The Crossing.

He,he, a Bundeswehr tank top, I'd forgotten about them. I like the original video better, the one with Zodiacs, jet-ski's, scuba gear, ATV's and rappelling. -S

Tin-

Many thanks for the second video post. For the record, this was not the hair I was seeking.

Wallace-

I have to thank John for steering me toward your work. Likely would have found it following the paths of Leonard and Hammet, though John's mention here shortened that journey for certain.

I hope that does not constitute the internet's version of a reach-around...it did feel a bit tingly on this side after writing it.

Either way, very enjoyable.

These guys aged much better than Aha.(Remember?) I don't think they're ugly.

What is it that they shout at one point is ti the word, "Shout" is it just "Sha".. is it "Shock".. I have to sing this song and I don't know what that word is they shout.. unless it is shout.. but it's not mentioned in any lyrics anywhere yet it is in the song about 5 times..

Anon- Since I sing this in the shower, I usually go with Showa...
