Not as good as it was. Better than it will be.
It appears that he wants to do to the Marines what The Village People did to the Navy.
I thought you quit talking to me since I accused you of knocking off Chops.
It just seems kind of tasteless.max
Roger that, 3Button. It makes me wonder if it's selling. And if it is...to who?
certainly not anyone currently or at anytime involved w/a branch of service-selling? possibly a gradual descent down market the way of Hilfiger.max
The new Ralph Lauren RRL store in East Hampton has scads of militaria. ACL has pictures...http://acontinuouslean.com/
Linked to FNB's "Best of The Blogs".There is a great messy but worthwhile discussion here - How far is too far? Ralph can play with Regimental ties but when he plays with a unit's insignia like this has he gone too far? Some iconic images you can play with some maybe you can't.Personally I hated the Punk's playing with the Swastika and any 'ironic' playing with The Moors Murderers in England. We all have our own boundaries.Ol' Russ.
Tucker- I looked at the photos and didn't see anything outta line. My issue is using current as well as past unit insignia and decorations for sewing onto apparel as a decorative device.Ol' Russ- I feel like I should put on armor before going over to FNB. Amazing what they've said about this blog. I'm not married to "Ask Andy" and "London Lounge" puts me to sleep. It just annoys me when other bloggers take my old posts on AAAT and use my words to create a post on their blog. I'd be flattered but those same people are critical of this blog...
I like a lot of your stories, but when you whine and pout you are a bore. I seem to remember seeing you on those forums not too long ago trashing other blogs.Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Get over it and grow up already.
Anon- My first critical post. Thanks. And I agree. I am a bore when I whine and pout. I don't remember trashing other blogs but when I grew up I stopped copying other people's work. I also never hid who I was when I've made critical comments. I've been fired more than once for that. So, I'll add, as many ex-bosses have said about me, "he never knows when to shut up" to your comment. You're free to use that...with, I can only hope, attribution.
Tintin ~ Great blog. We're looking forward to seeing you over at FNB. Any day now! Don't scold me, however, for I am known to wear a Rhodesian SAS, RLI, or Selous Scouts t-shirt to the gym. ;)
ltb, If you have a Rhodesian tshirt; you're amazingly cool. Unless you ordered it from "Soldier of Fortune" magazine in the 70s. In which case, I compliment you on your foresight. Age. And balls. I've done a recon at FNB, but still lack the balls to lock and load. A wild group of boys over there, who I must admit, know their merde.
I know the comments you mean on FNB & they were back in the early days of your blog. Back then anything 'Trad' was in the firing line... And then the Trad blogs really changed all that. People saw that Trad could be thoughtful and something away from the herd mentality that you can sometimes see elsewhere.Richard (WASP 101) had more fun made of his blog than anyone else I think in the early days. I now post there and enjoy the evolution of his thinking just like I do with all the other bloggers. You can use the FNB site if you want to, but you don't have to. It can be a resource for Trads, but only if they want to use it.For my part - If you posted on FNB I'd have your back.Russ.
Speaking of WASP 101, tintin seemed to be the loudest jealous complainer about Richard's blog on that forum. This may be your first critical post, but it is not your first rant tintin.Luke
Luke,Here's the post you refer to: http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81036&highlight=WASP+101&page=3That does not come across like a rant to me against Richard or WASP 101. And if you read the entire thread I'm far from being the loudest complainer. Some very nasty things were written and not by me. Jealous? Probably. But not complaining. I even gave him a compliment. So, where are geeting this stuff from, Luke?
