John Simon Documentary by Jason Jules - Brilliant!

John Simons Shop  on 46 Chiltern Street - Home of American Trad in London

"I think they were invisible to everybody else.  I think they looked incredibly conservative…incredibly conservative.  That's what was radical about it.  In fact, that's what was subversive about it."
Kevin Rowland of Dexys Midnight Runners

Jason Jules (Garmsville) was over for the Ivy exhibit at FIT and I invited him to drinks and dinner.  He's something of a low talker and I'm going deaf but he is one of the nicest people I have ever met.  You get the impression he'll give you the shirt off his back.  Actually, I gave him a pair of Jack Spade canvas trousers, a BB tie and I might have even given him the shirt off my back. I'm not sure…

You want to give Jules the shirt off your back.  He's that decent and humble.  He's also brilliant. The trailer is a documentary on the history of John Simon and his Ivy shop in London.  It's due this Spring and it looks…brilliant!

Greetings, salutations & appreciation. Please do not publish this. Sebago: across I85 from the "peachoid" in Gaffney, SC sits "Bargain Shoes" I won't go into its history and you'd have no interest in 99.99% of the inventory. However, it has recently had discontinued Sebago Horween Chromexcel (offshore) Docksides for $45 (on racks, not in boxes). Unusual colors such as bottle green, dark blue, mustard and burgundy-ish similar to #8. Originally $150. I've noticed similar Maine made camp mocs are now circa $400. A couple of years ago they had a supply of various Walkover suede oxfords @ $35 per pair. Someone from Atlanta bought over $3,000 at one time in Walkovers, so I was told. I just thought if you were ever in the area you might be interested in the casuals. Last fall I noticed a pair of $1,200 Italian side-zip black city boots for $50, but that's rare. Low expectations, don't go out of your way. Again, please do not publish. Regards, Ta'er.

Re: Sebago Chromexcel Docksiders: The toes are hand box-stictched, which overlaps the seam, rather than the usual saddle stitched front. Also, "Horween" is printed in white on the inside of the back quarter. (Though you're not a Williamsburg hipster "Jethro" boot guy, I've bought several pairs of Wolverine 1000 Mile boots and a pair of "Vintage" brand tan bison leather "jump boots" made in the same Martinsburg, PA factory as Corcoran www.coveshoe.com All $60 pair at Bargain Shoes) Not for publication. Regards, Ta'er

Seriously, brilliant, judging from the trailer. Paul Weller of the Style Council came in there from out of the blue for a comment and made my morning. Love how you tied the Monty Python clip into it all.
