Rome in Manhattan

Dinner at Bocca on a humid Rome-like night. This was parked outside...

If only this were going on inside.

Once while in Paris I took a photo of a man riding a scooter with a good looking girl riding with him. I took the photo to prove I wasn't in America.

How was the wine?

Nice bike! It is really too bad that wasn't going on inside.

That is a sweet scooter! Looks like the LXV. Love it.

Bro- That wouldn't work anymore. The Vespa is everywhere.

Chuck- Amazing but we brought our own. A $35 corkage was not my favorite part of the night but this is NYC and not Rome.

Emily- Not sure I'd ever call a Vespa a 'bike' but you go right ahead.

Patsy - You got me but I do know Mina well.

Does that go on inside anywhere anymore?

My Nonna used to listen to stuff like that on AM radio all the time when I was a kid. In Summer she'd sit in our concrete back yard, sipe Carlo Rossi with ice and seltzer and smoke Tareyton 100s. I think when she closed her eyes the yard became a "piazza" and the cheap battery operated radio became Mina and the guys in the red tuxes actually playing over there, by the bar.

Giu- Your Nonna sounds like a lotta fun. My parents went for the the charcoal filter on Larks.

When I close my eyes, I see Mina and myself in a Fiat 500. In the back seat. Parked in a lemon tree grove and ripping each others clothes off. And I don't want your Nonna interrupting.

I hear violins but I don't see them.

Tintin, don't ever close your eyes when we are together... please. Now I'm trying to think if a Fiat even has a backseat and you are tainting the mental image.
You and your DB jackets are a bad influence on me.

Nina. If only. At least the Vespa lent ambiance. Here's a book I use, which helps to fill the void:
