"What do you trad gentlemen wear when it's this f-ing hot? I assume you ain't sitting on lawn chairs in flip-flops, basketball shorts and t-shirts with the sleeves cut off like us clowns in the midwest.
That said, after the first drink or two, everyone's drinking warm beer when it's this hot." Comment from JW @2:53 PM today.

Who gets to be the first one to say "no socks?"
Oooh, oooh, its me!
Au naturel in the air conditioned apartments with a lady and cats, sir.
White Oxford button down with the sleeves rolled up Italian style, khaki shorts, surcingle belt, and (I can already hear the cringes) brown leather flip-flops.
I really don't care what anyone says about flip-flops - it's hot out, I'm wearing them. Besides, my feet sweat too much to rock leather loafers sans socks.

Session beer, ice cold. My fav summer beer. I saw they gave a black lager now... I am gonna' pick up some to try.
We are barely at 70 at 230 pm today. I ain't complainin' though cause I got sun, and a great teak weathered deck chair in the shade. Stay cool, and here's to you keepin' power!
i read The Trad for months now and I have to give to you a real coup de chapeau : this blog, THIS blog is just the best.
My madras short sleeved shirt, cotton khaki shorts, ancient leather belt and Birkenstocks (yes, I can here the cringes as well, but they're comfortable and cooling).
Up here in Toronto, it's hot. Maybe not American Hot, but it's hot. Really hot.
Khaki shorts, shirts of the lightest Indian cottons, deck shoes. I accept the sock-less and even partake occasionally but I do prefer socks casually slouched down as low on the ankle as possible. I usually wear a discrete pale grey but I once had a dorm proctor who was the spirit and image of Marcie from the Peanuts comic. With deck shoes, she always wore really bright coloured socks that in no way related to the neutrals she other wise favoured. When I am feeling really pukka, I perform a sock homage to her.
Unfortunately, I do tend to wear baseball style caps for the sun and to lower my profile. But no sports teams or trucking companies. Gold mining companies or oyster growers are how I roll.
Shower in the morning with generous applications of Pinaud Clubman talc. Shower again in the late afternoon, with a blast of T & H's West Indian Limes. Shower again before bed for a comfortable sleep of if you are expecting company.
Cold water, hot tea, local beer, G+Ts, rose' wines throughout the day and often. Damned hot Chicken Vindaloo for lunch. It's a great day!
Linen. That's the only fabric for this weather (for me).
This cartoon is very good... but just how do you illustrate the subway air that literally SLAPS you in the face?
Alice- Have you ever heard of etamine?
I almost forgot! Sleeves rolled to the elbow but not above unless you are performing serious labour. Pink grapefruit gelato during the day, any earthier toned flavours after sunset. If memory serves, her name was Bonnie. I think that's important somehow.
Anyone tried Kolch (or is it Kolsh) beer? It's really good & totally takes the edge off these hot days. cheers!
That's a pretty good question. When it's this hot out, and I'm not working, I could care less about style or fashion. Everything you wear goes to hell once it starts sticking to every inch of your body.
Compression shorts under mesh shorts and a V neck t-shirt. Done and DONE!
Tailored linen shorts.
Long sleeve cotton shirt rolled up to just below the elbow, and hemmed to be worn untucked if it’s really hot.
Footwear? The clue is in the name: desert boots. I wear them with cut-off socks that don’t extend above the top of the boot.
But both my grandfathers, who were trad when it was just contemporary, would wear them with knee length socks scrunched down around their ankles.
I don't want to rub it in, but sitting here in Sydney (51˚F ATM)in my Shaggy Dog jumper just now felt that much better after reading these posts. I know I'll get mine come February, but...aaaahhhhh.

At work and out at lunch time, I dress exactly as in October or April, except for a cotton or linen odd jacket rather than tweeds. After an unpleasant dermatological procedure caused by the June sunburns of a Tidewater youth, I also wear a panama hat. I detest hot weather, but find covering up is a little more comfortable above ninety than exposing the skin. The Bedouin knows a thing or two.
Have you seen the cover of Herbie mann's album, Push Push? That's me; also Clam diggers.
Ann - Koelsch is definitely a good summer beer.
