Only a third of the country would be British. The other 2/3 would be split between France and Spain.

David V- Not so fast. France lost the Seven Year's war and in 1763 Spain seeded their territory of Florida to the British.

Just ask nicely and perhaps we'll let you re-join the Empire.

And PS - David V. If Britain had won that First Civil War, then 'Loyal British North America' - aka Canada - would also be a part of that same 'what if' country, so the % of British would be - blimey - flippin' well huge.

The 70s would have been even more awful. The UK was pretty much a slightly better East Germany during the 70s though one might make the case that Trabants had better electrical systems than any British car built during that era.

Wanna know? Just read "For Want of a Nail" - Alternative history novel from 70 something that pivots around us losing at Saratoga.
