Hudson's Bay Timex - A Million Places

Men never grow up.  It started with kites. Well, it did with me.

Bright colored paper wrapped around wooden sticks. The 'barber pole' look of a kite...sending my color aesthetic to a million places.

This comes damned close.  Hell, it might surpass.  I don't have to fly it -- Just wear it. $150.  Cheap, like a kite. And waiting to go a million places with the 12 year old in me... smiling.  On line here for $95. But only if you're Canadian.

  2. Definitely Prep vogue. Gotta stick with the chino's and Shetland sweaters with this baby. Nice.

  5. Beg pardon, sir tinseth, but seems to be just under $100 on the HBC's website. Even cheaper then imagined (and certainly less then many kites run these days). Now if only they don't all get snapped up first, like all the remaining lime soap was...

  6. Nice. Funny the things we see and which stay with us in our memory. For me it was the colors of billiard balls I first saw in the men's rec hall on the German base where we were stationed in the early '60s. Even now, whenever I see a two-tone Mini car with a white roof it reminds me of them!

  7. Last time I bought a Timex it fell into a million pieces. It was a cheap one, granted, but it said Timex and I was expecting to get a few years out of it. The crown fell right out. Maybe it was a fluke, but I won't buy another one.

  8. Main Line - It is.

    Smitty - You're right.

    M Lane- I didn't.

    Richard - You're link ain't right.

Anon 19:50 - It's $95. But it's on the Bay website that does not ship to the US.

DB - Topkapi is on TCM!

    Anon 19:59 - I grabbed 4 boxes of lime.

Ruling Part- I figure it's worth a shot. Love it.

This was at the Capsule Show in NYC today. It's not available in the US as far as I know. I'll check and find out when and where. I was told at Capsule it would retail for $150. It's $95 in the Great White North. If you like it, and know Bob and Doug McKenzie, give 'em a call and ask 'em to do you a favor.

  9. I don't get it, there are better looking Timex's at Wal-Mart at a cheaper price, $34 and put on a $12 nylon strap - bingo.

  10. Me likey! I'm fairly certain it is 95 CAD (but the current fx rate is essentially 1-1).

Someone could make a killing buying these up North and reselling for 150-200 USD.

  11. Anon- I looked at all the WalMart watches and don't see anything better looking than this. Even at $100.

It it were me, I'd do a joint venture with the HBC colors on the face with a strap made from an actual blanket -- but that's just me.

W Essex- "Anything to declare, eh? By the way, hoser...what's that ticking sound?"

"2,500 Hudson's Bay Timex watches, a case of LaBatts Blue and a carton of Export A's."

"Well, we'll let you go with the watches, eh, but we're confiscating the Blue and the A's."

  12. This watch hurts my eyes, but I do like the texture. One must please oneself.
