Double click images to enlarge and return to long lost names as well as brands and packaging that remain unchanged to this day. Can you spot those still around and are any in your cabinet?
Modern living through chemistry! I don't know if Aqua Velva or Hai Karate are in there, but it's enough to strike terror in any boomer's heart. Back then, the "cult of the man" was being played out in the last gasps of bad colognes and bad ads for them (Mad Men, anyone?). Women's Lib and the Beatles' influence was taking rapid hold, and cologne disappeared overnight for a whole generation...
My dad went through a wet look phase in the early 70s and he used Groom N Clean. Disinclined to throw things he's paid for away, I bet he's still got that nasty shriveled up aluminum tube under the sink at home.
Inclined to emulate my dad, I had some of that Groom N Clean in my hair when I was about 7 years old.
I know it is early.... but from a distance, this looks like a Gustav Klimt painting. Stand back and look and tell me if you see it. Love the idea and the photo. mbn
There is some great stuff in those pictures, on page two alone I see Knize (so Vienna old School), Habit Rouge, the full line of Caswell Massey, Royal Lime (still spold ar BB's, Roger and Gallet Jean arie Farina. On page one there are four Dunhills, a Hermes (eau I think),4711 and 4711. Not to mention Canoe, that was worn in the eightiesn by girls with long blonde bangs who played Tennis.

Everything in my cabinet says Kiehl's.
ReplyDeleteI still use Vitalis...
ReplyDeleteStrange, I didn't see "Sex Panther" in there.
ReplyDeleteMust've been an oversight.
What no Drakaar?
ReplyDeleteVery surprised to see a Speed Stick in there. I was under the impression that stick deodorants did not come along until at least the '70s.
ReplyDeleteBy Mennen!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see several soap on a rope representations...

ReplyDelete"Speed Stick" was first registered as a trademark in 1957, so the product probably has been around since then.
ReplyDeleteGreat memories of all those products - saw a lot of familiar ones!
