Sartorial courage increases with September in sight. Every day of August is like watching 60 Minutes on CBS. Something I look forward to -- but with a ticking dread of Monday. The queasy feeling in my gut remains unchanged 26 years since the last day of school. August colors are my last act of defiance -- the middle finger to Fall.
I agree but I never felt like this until I came to the States. The change of seasons is so distinct here as compared to home (Sydney). Now I am also very much aware of the limited number of Summer weekends and sartorially, I'm trying to wear as many of my Summer dresses as I can before they're banished for another nine months. (Not so much GTH in my wardrobe... although my sister would say I'm adopting that attitude when I wear shorts.)
ReplyDeletethe madras tie is nice...
ReplyDeleteIn Dixie, we extend the summer season on out until the weather cools off a little bit. Some years that's September or it could be November! It is not uncomon to find madras shorts paired with a RL crew sweater at Thanksgiving in Atlanta. MME
ReplyDeleteLove these summer colors! I always change the color of my wardrobe according to the seasons..but summer colors are definitely my favorite!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's time for a new trend - winter GTH.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Anon. As a Texan, I am usually still in summer duds well into October, and toss on a variety of knitwear during the cool mornings or evenings.
ReplyDeleteJapan is a lot more like the northeast. There will come a time in September when things truly snap to cold, and then the GTH shorts, shoes, and ties get put away to wait until summer comes back in late April or early May.
Theres still a 60 minutes?
ReplyDeleteI had growing up (and still have) the same twisting in my guts on Sunday nights. As it happens, Sunday night was also egg sandwich night at my house. Today I still can't look at an egg sandwich without having a pang of anxiety.
ReplyDeletebeing a teacher, i know this knotty feeling well....
ReplyDeletethese ties are nice. gladly we could wear these colors throughout the year here in the philippines. the trade-off, of course, is that we miss out on the chance of wearing fall/winter pieces, which i like a lot. guess i just have to content myself with looking at them from pictures.
