  1. I played polo in Wyoming, Colorado and Texas in the 1970's and usually didn't see a suit or tie. Mostly blue jeans, cowboy boots or topsiders, polo shirt or oxford and a baseball cap. That was pretty universal. Cowboys and CEO's pretty much looked the same, except some of the cowboys had more money.

  3. Jeans, khakis, T's, or button downs, I'm fine with them al.... but Isay what has destroyed America is the Tennis shoe!
New Balance or Nike are great if in the act of running, but when it comes to style, the have been better at ruining.

  5. Wing - You do have a way with words.

old polo- You got any Kodachromes?

anon 14:23 - Looks nice up there. Is it an FPE? (free public event) 'Cause I don't attend FPEs.

Brohammas- What are those things with the boat shape sole? Shreckers? Hell, I don't know. They're ugly as sin and make New Balance look like Edward Green.

Main Line- I love Chester Co. The Golf Foxtrot will confirm. A PA stone farm house on a hill with nobody else around for as far as you can see. That is my idea of heaven.

  8. Rather coincidentally the British daily telegraph has a piece up bemoaning the poor dress taste of upper class brits versus their American counterparts.....this is all based on a photo of the crowd watching Prince Harry fall off his horse at a NY polo match. I drew no such conclusion because apart from a couple of elegant specimens the crowd looked uniformly grungy or pretty naff as they do in these pics.

  9. All my kodachromes went up in flames when my echo xray burned down the casa. Go to Big Horn Polo face page for some great pictures though. Gillian Johnston takes some GREAT ones. Check out her facebook page too for even more.

  10. Speaking of Brandywine, the Hurd-Wyeth family used to play polo at their place in San Patricio, New Mexico. Western polo is a little different than Myopia or Brandywine as I recall.

  11. Oh come on, if people can't dress properly out of respect for judge (court) or priest (funeral) why would a foreign hunk trotting around on a pony pull out one's Sunday best? It's so pathetic I almost feel sick...self expression has evolved into absolutle careless abandon...time to bring back the dress code, no matter what the lazy say...
