The Trad Shoots Madison

Avenue that is. Swimming pools. Movie stars...
A couple points here. I don't like sticking a camera in someones face and I'm too embarrassed to ask anyone. So, until I become rude or emboldened or both - - this is what you get. Sub Rosa.

  1. Alice- I suck at this. I missed so much. People move way too fast. It's like trying to watch a hockey game.

  2. Oh, man, some of these outfits (not all) are verging on scary! It's as if they cobbled together some duds from a Village sidewalk sale...while wearing blindfolds. Are New Yorkers truly this insular? Or are they just borrowing heavily from peevish and pouty Parisians? Could this be the truest meaning of the term "slumdog millionaire"? Maybe this is the best that the best and brightest can do. I think not.

Or, maybe I think so. Class was the first casualty in our "enlightened" age of fashion irony which now reigns in our country: the "creative" IT guy who comes to work on casual Friday in his pjs, the young woman in the wedding party wearing her trademark college flip-flops. Note to NYC: eclectic works best with furnishings. Accessorize, instead.

As for me, I've long ago abandoned ironic fashion statements (Did I ever make them?). I now inhabit clothing somewhere between Sears and yard work...which is, at least, better than how nearly everyone here in the South looks: as if they're about to mow the lawn every day. Now I'm invisible...just the way i like it.

I like the grinning bow tie guy, though. He gets it.

  3. DB- It was my first time out with the intent of snagging some street style pix. And it shows.

I missed so much great stuff but I'll try again. Please don't accept these few snaps as any refelction of the NY ability. It's pretty amazing here with it bordering on over load.

It sure beats what they're wearing in Kennesaw.

  4. Is that a skirt in #7? Last time I was in NYC I noticed this trend of wearing microscopic skirts with heavy tights. A very positive trend.
