The illustrations (from Fellows and Saalburg, I believe) are wonderful.

Richard m, They are wonderful. The magazine has soared in price the last couple of years. I was lucky and picked up a Rizzoli re-issue from Gallaghers in NY.

That last illustration of the gent standing to the side of a sreet view has to be the Union League of Philadelphia. As you enter the main entrance it's the first room to the left.

Tintin: Not so sure-as an ex-Union League member, I'm not sure I recognize the streetscape, althogh it may have changed. Richard M

richard m,
As an ex-member of the club as well, I always thought it was the south east window. I'll have to confirm.

Tintin: Let me know; as I said, the streetscape may have changed. I'm currently a non-resident member of the Racquet Club of Philadelphia, which I love, with many nice photos of the days of yore inside. My wife and I currently reside in Chevy Chase, but, as I wrote, plan to retire to the Main Line. All the best.

this painting is from inside University Club on 5th ave NY looking out on street through its main level windows. I think across from university club there is Elizabeth Arden or some other retailer these days. If you pass by the club (on street level) you can see these windows (of club) from ground.

Anon- You may be right. I passed the corner yesterday and it seems a better match than the Union Lg in Phila. Nice catch.
